Imagine having a porch enclosure that gives you more time to enjoy the outdoors. Porch enclosures give you a bug-free environment, shelter you from adverse weather, provide shade, and add beauty to your home. Whether you have a small contemporary porch or a sophisticated home, there is a porch enclosure designed just for your needs.

See if one of these porch enclosure ideas will be ideal for your situation.

· Porch Curtains or Drapes – this is an elegant way to enclose your porch and it will create immense curb appeal. Curtains and drapes can block the sun and wind while creating an ambiance that is hard to beat. Some are specifically designed to keep mosquitoes and other annoying insects from pestering you and your guests. They come in a wide variety of colors, textures, and materials, all of which are meant for exterior use.

· Screen Porch Kits – these are one of the most popular porch enclosure options. They come in a variety of styles and materials, are relatively inexpensive, are easy to maintain, and provide immediate screened space. You can purchase kits that include all framing and screens. You can usually choose the roofing material which is normally either canvass or metal. If you already have a roof over your deck or patio, consider the walls only option to cut your overall costs.

· Screen Awning Kits – this is a very good alternative if you already have an awning over your deck or patio. These attach to the awning, have a zippered door, and often come with an option for wind or weather panels.

· Custom Screen Porch – this option can be the porch enclosure of your dreams. When building a custom screened porch, plan for a stone fireplace, a flat-screen television, tiled or stone flooring, outdoor fans and exquisite lighting, along with comfortable outdoor furniture. Although one of the more expensive options, it will be a home addition that will add considerable value and be enjoyed for years.

· Open Wall Systems – for the sophisticated homeowner, this option may be ideal. These systems allow you to virtually open your home to the outdoors. They are truly amazing and create an environment unsurpassed by any other option.

You and your family will enjoy a porch enclosure for years to come. Create a privacy area for intimate dining or an entertainment area for the big game.. You can certainly find one that fits your budget and your lifestyle; just add the fun.

Lighting is usually considered a functional part of the home, both indoor and outdoor. Porch lighting and other security lights that allow for safe passage from one area of the yard or driveway to the home’s entrance are considered necessary lighting installations. However, not all lighting is merely functional, there are many type of outdoor decorative lighting installations that are designed merely for their enhancement to the landscape.
Decorative lighting adds character and a decorative touch to the outdoor living area extending the personality of the home and its owner from the inside to the outside. The lighting scheme can be as complex or as simple as the designer wants it to be. Soft subtle lighting options can be used around patios and decks to allows guests enough light for socializing while more focused lighting can be used to highlight favorite garden flowers or trees.
Decorative outdoor lighting can be used to bring pools and ponds to life when the sun goes down. Water features are spectacular when the sun goes down with the use of floating or underwater light installations. This is also another example of how lighting is not necessarily installed for function but is designed to be a decorative, creative touch to the area.
When planning outdoor lighting plans that are meant to add charm and atmosphere to the landscape it is also possible to combine form with function. Pathway lighting can be decorative while also being a safety feature. Landscape stones with embedded lights are the perfect choice for a lighting option that is both a safety feature and a dramatic addition to the landscape plan.
Choosing lighting that has both form and function is an economical way to create a landscape design that goes beyond beauty and offers security and safety that is necessary for the home and its guests. Landscape architects are able to offer a complete analysis of the landscape and create a plan that is the perfect fit for the home. If the expense of the landscape architect is out of reach, the homeowner can design their own landscape lighting plan by simply following their landscape’s design and their own wishes.

Garapa Brazilian Hardwood is fast becoming one of the most popular woods for decking these days.
Garapa is a warm golden color and gives a beautiful alternative to the darker hardwoods such as Ipe, while still maintain the density of hardwood (2820 on the Janka Scale) and the a lifespan of at least 25 years.  Garapa is also known as Brazilian Oak and matches many decor that you may already have for trim on your home.
Garapa is 2 ½ times harder than American Oak and 5 times harder than Cedar.  Garapa also comes in a variety of dimensional lumber such as 4’ X 4’ posts, handrail and 2 X 4’s.  Combine this with the look of Fortress Railing for a contrast and you have a beautiful new hardwood deck that you and your family can enjoy for years to come.
Many people use Garapa due to the fact that they want a lighter wood because they like the “light, bright color.” They don’t want anything dark because it won’t match their home or they are afraid that the darker wood will be “too hot” with the sun shining on it.  Another nice feature about Garapa is that it is less expensive than some of the other hardwoods. If you are going to let the color “go gray” over time, you can purchase the less expensive Garapa and have the same great look over time.
Garapa also blends nicely with other Brazilian wood species if you are looking for a two tone look to complete your new outdoor living space.  You can use Garapa wood decking for the main deck and do another shade of wood for trim or borders.  It especially looks nice if you use this “two tone” effect if you have more than one deck and different level decks.
You can use screws that match the color of Garapa or you can have your wood “kerfed” for the hidden fasteners.  Which ever you choose will be right for you and the look that you want for your new deck.
Choosing the right material for your new deck is an important decision and Garapa Brazilian Hardwood is the right decision.  It is not only beautiful and durable but will last for years and years to come.  It is an all natural wood with no chemicals added.
